During the school holidays, there is once a week an event where nature guides show the guests something about the Wadden Sea and either demonstrate something related to the Wadden Sea or activities that guests can participate in. This can e.g. be dissections of some of the Wadden Sea's animals, activities where you have to move or offers to make pancakes over a fire.

During the school holidays there are some days of events at the Wadden Sea Centre. It can be very different activities, but check the website and get more information.

2 July at 10:30-14:00: Molluscs
We take a closer look at various molluscs such as snails, clams and squid. These animals have some remarkable adaptations to the mudflats that enable them to dominate in, as well as, on the seabed. On this day, the nature guide will dissect octopuses, so you can get up close to the amazing animals and understand how they work.
9 July at 10:30-14:00: Fish
We dive into the Wadden Sea and look at some of the different fish that live here. Why does the flatfish look the way it does and what special adaptations does it have? Can you find the bull-rout? Come in and help find different fish in our touch pool! On the day, the nature guide will dissect fish and we will look at how a fish works.
16 July at 10:30-14:00: Crabs
Crabs and other crustaceans are fascinating! On this day, the nature guide will tell and show why these animals are very special. Did you know that crabs have gills but can still breathe on land?
23 July at 10:30-14:00: Marine mammals
This day we take a closer look at some of the fantastic mammals of the Wadden Sea. Porpoises and seals make the mudflats unsafe for fish and other small animals, but how do they hunt? What other adaptations do the animals have that make them such effective predators? On this day, the nature guide will talk about the marine mammals in the Wadden Sea and their cultural significance.
30 July at 10:30-14:00: Plants
For many years, plants have been important both as food and medicine. For example, which plant did the sailors eat in order not to get scurvy? On this day, the nature guide will show how to make seaweed salt and seaweed chips. Maybe you can bring some home?
6 August at 10:30-14:00: Birds
The birds of the Wadden Sea are something very special. This day we will investigate how the birds are adapted to the Wadden Sea and different types of food. To reduce competition between other species, many of the waders have some unique traits that make them specialists in their own field. On this day, the nature guide will dissect birds and you will have the opportunity to take a closer look.
